Sarge Jerks Off Ball

July 30th, 2009 admin No comments

A yet again another announcing gem by Gary “Sarge” Matthews. I can understand “jerking off the ball” but to string it together with “let this guy jam you” and “if it comes it CUMS,” it seems too ridiculous.

Streak Continues

PHILADELPHIA — The way things are going for the Philadelphia Phillies, it was only a matter of time before someone delivered a big hit.

Jayson Werth hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 13th inning to send the Phillies to their 10th straight victory, 4-1 over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night. The NL East-leading Phillies are on their longest winning streak in 18 years. They won 13 in a row from July 30 to Aug. 12, 1991.

This recent streak just proves what people analysts say about the Phillies, “The Phillies go as J-Roll goes.” Since his recent streak ended the Phillies have been red hot. People think stats like this are bull shit, but this one has shown its legit. When J-Roll has scored a run this season Phillies 38-8, Thats about an .826 winning percentage if my math is correct.

The Phillies slump ended right on July 3rd, which is when J-Roll became hot. Since then he leads the team in almost every batting category. Batting .381, with 10RBI, 24 hits, 15runs, 11extra base hits, and an OBP of .459. And did I mention the Phillies are 14-1 in that span, including a 10 game win streak (longest since 1991)? It’s safe to say if he keeps putting up these numbers the defending world champs are going to eailsy find their way into the post season.

The 46 year old lefty took the mound for the first game after the all-star break for the Phils.  Jamies had a tough year with an ERA over 5.50.  But when can you always count on Jamie for a good start?, you guessed it….against the Marlins.  Jamie pitched 7 scoreless innings of 1 hit baseball to lead the Phils passed the Marlins.  Jamie improved his record to 8-0 at Florida.  Good job old man, hopefully this start can begin to turn your season around.

THE PHILS DO IT AGAIN!

Orioles Phillies Baseball

The Phillies led the MLB in comback wins last season, and they do it once again tonight. The Phils came into the ninth trailing 7-3 when Matt Stairs hit a bomb to make it a 3 run game. Later in the inning Ryan Howard hit a moon shot then “got on his Cadillac” and tied the game up at 7. The Phils won on a base hit by Paul Bako (Cya Chris Coste…Hey C³ there!). Keep on rolling Phils, feels great to be at home and out of interleague play huh?
