BOXING IS A DISGRACE!
HOUSTON — Juan Diaz thinks he proved that he’s a top contender again. Paulie Malignaggi thinks three judges in Texas prevented him from becoming one. Diaz beat Malignaggi in a 12-round, unanimous decision on Saturday night to win the vacant NABO junior welterweight championship. Diaz, a Houston native, fought the last 10 rounds with a bloody cut over his left eye. But the hometown crowd at the Toyota Center cheered every punch Diaz landed, and Malignaggi thought that swayed the judges. The scorecards were 118-110, 116-112 and 115-113 in favor of Diaz. Malignaggi called the decision “ridiculous” and asked for a rematch in New York City, his hometown. Diaz (35-2) ran to the four corners of the ring and saluted the cheering fans after the decision was announced, giving him a bounce-back win after he was knocked out by Juan Manuel Marquez at the Toyota Center in February. “I can fight at 135 pounds, I can fight at 140,” said Diaz. “I think I’m ready to take on anybody now. Whoever wants to fight me, bring it on.” Marquez will fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Sept. 19 and Diaz hopes his victory on Saturday night puts him in line to face the winner of that one. He said he’d also welcome a rematch with Malignaggi.
This fight was a fuckin joke. I actually watched this fight with my boys on saturday night on hbo, and I can tell you first hand that Paulie Malignaggi won that fight. I will never claim to be a big boxing fan, but i know how the sport works and I know what it should be judged on. This fight was one of the best fights i’ve seen in the last year, with that said how the fuck can a judge have on a score card 118-110? That makes no sense! If you say Diaz won the fight and your score card is 115-113 I can understand, but if your scorecard reads 118-110 your clearly a homer and you were picking Diaz to win no matter what. If Diaz would have won the fight and the judges scorecard would of read something like 115-113 Diaz, 115-113 Malignaggi, 115-113 Diaz I could have accepted that they honestly thought Malignaggi slightly lost the fight and Diaz slightly won the fight. But when HBO has the fight 115-113 Malignaggi and one judge has the fight 118-110 Diaz thats a judge just being a homer. And like Malignaggi said at the end of the fight boxing is bullshit anymore the home town fighters always have the advantage, and the only reason he boxes anymore is for the big payday. This clearly shows that boxing is fixed, and now I completely understand why MMA is passing boxing in ratings, because that shits definitely not fiixed. I don’t know how much further boxing will go if it keeps up at this pace. That fight was fucking bullshit!
