The 76ers have rounded out their training camp roster with four free-agent invitations: Dionte Christmas, Sean Singletary, Brandon Bowman, and likely Jared Reiner. Sixers director of player personnel Courtney Witte pegged Reiner’s likelihood of participation at “99 percent.” The four free-agent prospects will join 13 players already under contract when training camp begins Sept. 29 at St. Joseph’s University. Technically, the Sixers have two open roster spots: The NBA allows 15 players under contract, of which 12 are active at any given time.
Dionte Christmas who played at temple the past 4 years should defenitely make the team. The dude has range from halfcourt thats why I couldn’t believe he wasn’t drafted on draft night this year. Hes 6 foot 5 inches tall doesn’t have much of a handle but hes had NBA range for a couple years now he can pretty much pull up from anywhere and knock it down. Singletary who was a standout guard at virginia whos from the Philadelphia area should also make the team with his scoring ability. However I don’t know about these other two clowns making the team. One is a 6″9″ forward and one is a 6″11″ center depending on how much size we”ll really need on the end of the bench I guess will determine whether or not these two guys make the team. Basketballs almost here I can’t wait I just wish NBA basketball which is slop was even half as good as college which is by far the best. ENJOY IT!

The 76ers have agreed to terms with forward Rodney Carney, this according to a source familiar with the situation. Carney, 6-foot-7, has agreed to a 1-year deal. Previously, Carney spent two seasons with the Sixers: 2006-07, 2007-08. In July of 2008, Carney was traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, where he played last season. In his 3-year career, Carney has averaged 6.5 points and 2.0 rebounds a game.
I like this move. Carney improved his 3 point percentage last year with the T’wolves and the sixers need guys who can knock down the 3 pointer this season. The sixers already have Jason Kapono who will come off the bench as a guard who can knock down the 3, now they will have a long athletic small forward coming off the bench again who can also knock down the 3. The more depth the better with this team. ENJOY IT!

PHILLY.COM – Comcast SportsNet announced yesterday that former Villanova star Ed Pinckney will succeed Bob Salmi as the color analyst on 76ers telecasts. Pinckney, most recently an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves, will join longtime play-by-play announcer Marc Zumoff for all Sixers telecasts on Comcast SportsNet and the Comcast Network. “We are thrilled to welcome Ed back home and to have someone with his credentials join Marc Zumoff, providing Sixers fans with one of the best broadcast teams in the NBA,” Brian Monihan, Comcast SportsNet senior vice president and general manager, said in a news release. “Ed’s experience in the NBA, combined with his broadcasting experience and background as a player and coach at Villanova, will provide the insightful analysis and unique perspective that Sixers’ fans have come to expect from our talented crew.”
I personally think this is great! I don’t know much about Pinchney other than the fact he was a great basketball player back in the day, however I know all I need to know about Bob Salmi. And I can tell you first hand as a devoted sixers fan that Bob Salmi is a horrible color guy who dont know his head from his ass. Pinchney doesn’t have to come in and be great he just has to be better than Salmi and I’m sure that won’t take too much. ENJOY IT!

The 76ers are finalizing a deal to bring back combo guard Royal Ivey on a 1-year contract.
The two sides have agreed to terms, although a contract probably will not be executed until at least the end of the week.
Ivey, who joined the Sixers last season, opted out of the second leg of his 2-year contract. A source familiar with the situation indicated the deal is for slightly more than the league minimum.
As you can see, not too much going on in the city right now. This signing isn’t a big deal breaker for the team but hes a decent guy to have on the bench and bring in during certain situations. Ivey’s an outstanding defender who I wouldn’t mind having on the floor late in the 4th when you need a stop.
