NEW YORK(AP)—Facing the prospect of spending at least 3 1/2 years behind bars, one-time Super Bowl star Plaxico Burress on Thursday accepted a plea bargain with a two-year prison sentence for accidentally shooting himself in the thigh at a Manhattan nightclub.
The former New York Giants wide receiver pleaded guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a lesser charge than he had faced. He will be sentenced Sept. 22, and lawyer Benjamin Brafman said he expects Burress to begin serving his sentence immediately after.

Plaxico Burress is 29 years old. So the soonest he could return to the NFL would be either at 31 or 32 if there’s a suspension from Gooddell. If I were a gambling man, I’d say Plaxico Burress won’t be seen in the NFL again. Today Brett Favre will sign a deal with the Minnesota Vikings where he will make between 10 and 12 million this season. Is this really a suprise to anybody? I’m not a bit suprised that this clown signed with the vikings, however I am suprised at the money he is receiving. 12 million dollars for a 50 year old quarterback? Are you fuckin kiddin me? This guy single handly cost the jets their season last year. He threw a load of picks down the stretch of a season that looked like it was a lock at midseason that the jets would make the playoffs, but because Favre is mister tough guy and always has to play hurt he cost the jets a playoff birth. But now the vikings want to not only bring him into their organization they want to give him 12 million a year. THAT IS RIDICULOUS!!!!! But that don’t even piss me off the most, the worst is when ESPN turns into FNN- Favre News Network. I’d love to hear what else is going on in the sports world, but just like last summer ESPN will probablly turn into FNN for a couple weeks now. This whole scenario is a fuckin joke. I mean I used to like Favre when he played on Green Bay he was a very likeable guy, but he completely changed since leaving green bay. Its like dude if you say your gonna retire just fuckin retire don’t tell us that your going to retire then the next week you tell the media your thinking of returning then you say your going to retire then the next week you sign a 12 million dollar deal. They tell Tavaris Jackson who sucks and Sage Rosenfelds who sucks that they are going to both have a shot at the starting QB spot. All training camp these two guys busted their ass for that starting job Tavaris Jackson even got hurt, now your gonna bring in a guy thats going to make more money this year then those two guys combined in the next 5 years and tell them they have no chance to start. If I was Jackson and Rosenfeld I would probably jump Brad Childress. I mean think about it in the real world if you and another guy in your department are told that 1 of you will be getting promoted in the next month and then that month passes by and they bring in a guy that doesn’t work for the company and pay him more money than anybody has ever made working for that company. I don’t know about you but I would quit on the spot. And another thing….how many deadlines did the Vikings set for Favre to give them an answer? And after he said he wasn’t returning after every deadline they still go out and sign him! The whole situation is a fuckin disgrace, and I hope the Vikings go absolutely nowhere this year and Childress loses his job! ENJOY IT MINNESOTA!

Now, first off, this is not one of those “FOXSports.com has learned …” news scoops. Instead, it’s a picture that has been painted for me and a prediction I’m making after spending my time with Zygi Wilf’s squad. My prediction couldn’t be more emphatic.
After visiting the Vikings for two days, I am convinced — positively convinced — that Brett Favre will soon have talks with the Vikings to return to the team and could be joining them for this season after all. If my instincts are correct, all those purple Favre jerseys will have a home on Minnesota store shelves.
Here we go again! It was only a matter of time before Brett Favre made his was back into the headlines. Now that most NFL camps are coming to a close and preseason games are being played, don’t be surprised if you you see old number four in Vikings purple within the next two weeks.
I don’t care if Favre plays or not but I think its bullshit that he gets to skip out on camps and most of the preseason just because he is a “legend.” He should have to practice like everyone else. Those few extra weeks of practice might do him some good. It’s probably the time off that makes him forget what team he plays for, at least that must be his excuse for constantly throwing the ball to the other team’s players.

Every few weeks a story comes out about some fan in Philly doing something stupid while being drunk at a game. I’ve been to a lot of games and I’ve seen plenty of bad moments in my life. But I’ve never seen a more despicable, disgusting act during a game in my life. The only instance that rivals this is when that trailer trash father and son ran onto the field and beat up a teams first base coach (specifics slip my mind currently because I am enraged)

Although the Indians traded the popular catcher to Boston on Friday, they still will go ahead with their planned Victor Martinez Catcher Bobblehead giveaway at tonight’s game against the Detroit Tigers. All fans attending the game will receive one, courtesy of Time Warner Cable. The Indians set their promotional schedule during the off-season. At that time, nobody would have envisioned Martinez being traded.
There will be more Martinez memorabilia. At Thursday’s 12:05 p.m. game at Progressive Field against the Minnesota Twins, the Indians will give away Victor Martinez Chest Protector Backpacks to kids 14 and under.
There must be one hell of a lack of communication within this organization. Maybe they’re hoping they will still have a good crowd at both of these games and that’s the only explanation to still give this useless shit away.
